About Us

Since 2012 delivering the best oil seep data to exploration teams

Our Journey: From Seep Detection to Mapping Commercial Accumulations

OilFinder began with a bold innovation: combining satellite imagery with computational modeling to detect oil seepage on the sea surface and then trace it back to its source on the seafloor. By reconstructing oceanic circulation, we gave exploration teams a new way to see beneath the sea surface, remotely and precisely.

We’ve worked closely with oil companies and national agencies across offshore basins. This hands-on experience helped us refine our tools and increase precision. One major breakthrough: the Oil Seepage Index Map (OSIM) — a probability map that could increase success rates by 67% in finding oil into sediment samples.

Our newest leap forward: a machine learning model trained on drilled well data. It identifies patterns and attributes linked to commercial accumulations, delivering up to 95% prediction accuracy. With this, we’re helping clients identify well locations, evaluate bid rounds, and make smarter exploration decisions—faster, and with more confidence.
